Marc Schneider Lighting Designer & Production Technician

Background

From production practice to lighting design.

I began my professional technical training in Germany, completing training in sound and lighting technology in the German television environment in 2003. Originally from Mainz, Germany, I have been based in the province of Cádiz, Spain since 2006.

Over the years, my work has taken me through theatre, musical productions, live music, television and audiovisual production — both as a lighting technician and as a designer.

That practical background strongly shapes the way I approach lighting today. A lighting design must create atmosphere, focus, rhythm and emotion, but it also has to work in a real production environment: with actual venues, available equipment, limited setup time, touring conditions and the technical team that has to reproduce it.

Working Principles

Designed to retain its intention on the real stage.

The objective is not to create a concept that only works under ideal conditions, but a lighting design that retains its artistic intention when it reaches the real stage.

Function before fixture brand
Written, structured communication
Venue-adaptable documentation
Creative and technical roles clearly separated
Touring and setup constraints considered early

AI & Creative Responsibility

Human-led design.
AI-assisted only where appropriate.

All analytical, dramaturgical, artistic and lighting-design decisions for client projects are made personally by Marc Schneider.

AI is not used to create or decide the lighting design, Production Lighting Assessment, Lightplot, lighting dramaturgy, artistic direction or other creative lighting decisions.

Client-supplied materials are not uploaded to or processed by external AI services. This includes scripts, drawings, photographs, stage plans, rehearsal material and other client documents.

AI tools may be used only for limited supporting tasks using material created independently by Get Your Lightshow, such as:

  • translating text or documentation created by Get Your Lightshow into other languages,
  • spelling, grammar and language correction,
  • document formatting and presentation,
  • creating scenic or set textures from drawings, photographs or written descriptions created independently by Get Your Lightshow, where this supports visualisation of the production.

Scenic textures and visualisation

AI-generated scenic textures may be used as visualisation resources only — for example to create or refine surface textures for scenery, walls, floors, fabrics or other scenic elements.

Only material created independently by Get Your Lightshow is used as source material for external AI-assisted texture generation. Client-supplied drawings, photographs or other project materials are not submitted to these services.

These textures do not determine the lighting concept, lighting dramaturgy, fixture placement, Lightplot or any artistic lighting decision. They are used only as supporting visual material within a design process that remains fully human-led.

Any AI-assisted supporting material used within a project is reviewed and integrated as part of the human-led design process. Responsibility for the final analysis, design, documentation and artistic decisions remains with Marc Schneider.
